if there is a full 82 game season for 2020-21 season (that actually starts in january 2021), it's going to be compressed to an ugly level to finish as soon as possible or the 2021-22 season will be pushed back as well.

as was mentioned previously (by carol?), the league could be looking at being a permanent summer fixture.

yikes! i'll watch this summer because of the state of the world, but there's little likelihood i will maintain interest past may unless the canucks are in it for future seasons.

Something has to give on that. Hockey will lose a lot of Canadian viewers if playoffs run into Sept .

Hopefully they rework the schedule to make more sense – that is, if they don't need hub cities for next season. I remember Toews suggesting this kind of series style schedule to cut down on travel time, and it'd be really smart to do that and decrease the time of the season.

Could even cut down on the cross conference games next year to make things better.

i agree. this may be a good opportunity to try out new stuff but playing past june seems like bad idea for canadian viewership.

it makes sense for the nba. watching a basketball game on a saturday or sunday morning in july or august seems natural.

watching hockey at those times seems painful. plus, daytime playoffs is gross!

as i replied to vantel, they definitely should be looking at innovating whether it's schedule/travel or broadcast. but moving the season to cover more of summer seems wrongheaded to me (aside from this season.)

It is a good idea in many ways. Just air costs and wear and tear of travel alone make it a good idea.

Plus, who the (frank) cares about those one random games against Minny or the Preds or Coyotes in January? Give it a three game mini-series, and by the third game there's going to be emotion. Might make for a more interesting regular season.

agreed. while some series are going to be lacklustre, there will be a lot more that seem like mini-playoff series.

a 3 game series can make or break a season.

It's a winter sport.

I've found that over the years I've become less interested as the playoffs progress and the weather gets better unless the Canucks are involved.

Maybe if it's raining or unbearably hot I'll watch a game but aside from that I'd rather enjoy the nice weather.

I was reading some articles and even listening to Burkie yesterday talking about buyouts . Of course Loui's name was front and center.

If he was bought out this year the cap savings are 333k and next year 2.333 . If he is bought out next year it is a 2.0 savings.

I really hate seeing him still part of the Canucks.
